The Traveling Frogs

Four Frogs in the Fort is the reinvention of what used to be Two Horned Frogs Abroad. I started this as a travel blog to keep our family and friends updated about our adventures around the world. Since 2012 we have been fortunate to travel to many places, make the move abroad AND come back home again. We relocated from Texas to Basel, Switzerland at the end of March 2013, then from Basel to Montreux (both Switzerland), then from Montreux back to Texas in June 2016.

BK and I met in 2002, right before my senior year at TCU. We met at a Peacemakers concert through a mutual friend, and the rest is pretty much history. Two years later, after working hard to convince me he was not interested in getting married for another five years or so, he proposed on a family trip to New York City. A year later we got married in Maui and have been traveling ever since. One little was born abroad and has been traveling ever since; the other little is working on getting more travel under his belt, but hasn't quite caught up with his sister.

If you're reading this and don't know what a Horned Frog is, it's a horned lizard native to to Texas, and more importantly, the mascot of our alma mater- TCU. He may look small, but he is very mighty. Bleed Purple and Go Frogs!

The Traveling Frogs
LK is the writer of this blog and used to be the keeper of everything that made our life run somewhat smoothly in Switzerland. Now she's navigating the balancing act of being a mom to two littles, wife to a husband who has a demanding job and social worker working to end homelessness via a full time job. She still acts as the family travel agent and now does lots more coordinating of everything in life and is convinced that we can figure out how to end homelessness. When she's not doing all that other stuff, she enjoys reading random books, seems to get herself into random volunteer roles, hosts lots of dinners at home and still tries to travel as much as possible.

BK is my Buddy and the reason we were two horned frogs abroad. I guess he's also technically also the reason we're four frogs in the Fort. BK still works for the same international company in accounting/finance and spends his days leading a large group of people who look at numbers, spreadsheets, slide decks and other accounting-type stuff. When he's not at work he likes to spend time with LK, love on our littles, enjoy good food and wine, occasionally swing a golf club, spend lots of time with extended family, and of course, travel to new places as much as possible.

K Bear used to be known as Baby K on the blog, but has since gotten a bit bigger and now can't really be called a baby anymore (tear). Yes she was born in Switzerland, but no she's not a Swiss citizen- just a US citizen born abroad. She has always been, and continues to be a great traveler, always willing to join us on a journey. She is still constantly running around, talking nonstop, reading (likely to her brother), playing house, riding her bike, or doing a million other things that she can get herself into.  She also LOVES spending time with her cousins and friends from school.

H Berry also used to be known as Baby H, but we'll have to change the name soon, so might as well do it now. He's still the baby, but is now running any chance he gets, following his sister around, trying to play with the big kids, reading and spending as much time as possible outside. He's a daddy's boy and is fairly certain he is BK's best bud. H Berry was born in the US and has been more of a home body than K Bear, but has done some travel. He's happy and laid back and BK and LK love having him by himself so his personality can really shine through.

Ol' Tobs- our faithful pup is still with us and easily made the trip back home. Toby is a little bigger than most miniature dachshunds are supposed to be, is now 10 and still going strong. He is a gentle giant who wants nothing more than to be with LK, BK, and loves his little people as well. He loves the water and always wants to ride in the car, but does not appreciate being left alone or when other children bother him. He's not so snuggly, but wants nothing more than to be with his people.
