A serious case of the travel bug

I haven't posted on the blog in a little while and I'm not really sure why. More writing at work? Spending my time working on other side projects? More time for me and BK after the kids are in bed? Nothing really jumps out at me, but I haven't had much to say for some reason. Maybe my extroverted self actually got out all of my words during the day? Not likely.
The trip that really launched our love of travel
I have a serious case of the travel bug right now. I probably haven't made the time to blog because I spend my evenings trying to decide where our little family of four should try to get away to this summer and when in the world we're going to make time to do that. And for that matter, why should we wait until this summer? Let's go sooner than later!
Weekends with the littles
I think a big part of it is that we may have finally settled into our life here. That may sound strange considering that we will have been back for two years in June, but quite a bit has happened in that two years. We moved back, closed on our house, started working on said house, moved in, had a baby, K Bear started a new school, I stayed home for a while, decided that wasn't for me, went back to work, got involved doing other stuff in the community, traveled a little bit...and here we are.
H Berry has some catching up to do- K Bear at his age now
So now I have this little voice inside of me saying what now?. What kind of adventure happens next for us? If I'm being completely honest, BK and I have discussed whether or not we would do another international rotation. For now the answer is no, but I think there's this little thing that always tugs at us, making us dream about the new experiences we, and now our children, would have if we moved somewhere else again. But those adventures are outweighed by being close to family, raising our kids with their cousins and grandparents, me being able to be a social worker again and contribute professionally, BK having a social circle outside of work colleagues.
We'll use any excuse to travel: Costa Rica for my 30th
For now our answer to that is travel- as much as we can and to as many different places as possible. I'm still on my quest to find somewhere for our family to go together, and it weirds me out that H Berry doesn't have a passport, so I need to fix that. BK and I are headed to Nicaragua on a mission trip this summer and then to Pebble Beach for his 40th in the fall. International travel seems to be in the cards for us on an annual basis, which is fitting. Somehow we'll figure out how to make time for more.
He's been there before- a pic from his previous trip
To really top all of this off, BK just called to let me know he safely landed in Delhi, India. Good news. Also that he has a day to acclimate before work gets started so he may just have the driver to take him out to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. He is SO not helping things. But don't worry, he has another trip to India scheduled in January and I fully intend to add an additional week on the end of his trip. I need to see that amazing place too. Count me in for experiencing new adventures. Always.
