We have officially been overrun by art

A small selection of pieces displayed in the kitchen window
We like to collect art and all, but good Lord, the sheer amount of kid artwork that comes into our household is incredible. I mean...this is something that I totally did not anticipate as a parent.
Artwork from TODAY- the color blobs on white background are paper towels!
And I know everyone has this and goes through it. It's a result of our kids being "creative" at school and expressing themselves through really messy (fun) projects that I'm thankful aren't actually done inside of our house. I might not be very much fun, but K Bear has to really catch me on a good day for me to agree to finger painting or pretty much anything beyond markers and paper. And even those have started to get me, as she has started cutting stuff up and making shapes and kites that then need to be taped onto my desk or in other random places. She usually wants to involve glue, then H Berry needs tape, he's marking on chairs and random stuff, there are paper scraps everywhere...you see how this gets out of hand quickly!
Stack of art, sort of under control
For us (me?) we live in a place where everything has a home. Things are not just randomly placed around or dumped where ever. No. Whatever just got dumped likely has a place it actually lives. And if it doesn't I will find it somewhere to live. But that's the thing with all this artwork- what in the world am I supposed to do with all of it?? Because some days all I can think is OMG did you seriously bring home another envelope of cut up paper scraps that you refuse to let me throw away??
Who thought this was a good idea? Dirt glued to a paper plate!
Don't deny it moms- you know you've all been there. And God forbid you EVER get caught trying to throw something away. I've had a couple times when I've put something in the inside recycle bin and then K Bear has gone to put something else in for us and found her "art." That's just not a good situation overall. Then said art has to go into the pile in the corner and can be recycled at a later date when kids are not around. Obviously in the grand scheme of things, all of this art is not a big deal, but parenting is funny like that. Or maybe in life in general- it's the little things that might actually drive you bonkers.
#10- spent in Barcelona
On a different note, I have to wish BK Happy Anniversary! Today is our 13th wedding anniversary. This one feels a bit weird because we're not together. He's in Switzerland for work this week and we were kind of like ships passing in the night last week, as I got back from a work conference late Thursday night and he had a Friday afternoon flight. Maybe we'll have a joint anniversary/Father's Day celebration this weekend. I am pretty excited about what's coming his way for Father's Day, but I can't reveal it just yet, as he does read these posts. More on that soon!
