2019: travel, travel and more travel

**Disclaimer: I wrote this post Thursday on the plane (you'll know when you get there).

Well, the blog is officially crawling out from under the rock she’s been sleeping under. I’ve often questioned why I can’t get something posted, but I still don’t know the answer. Too much writing at work? Political or hot button issues on my mind? Mom/wife guilt about writing instead of spending time with my people? Whatever it is, I couldn’t seem to make the time to get my thoughts in order.
Pre-flight reading with Abbs
Fast forward to now, and I’m in a place that I love to be- on an airplane. Okay, so maybe it’s not the airplane that I love to be on, but more what it means when we’re flying- we’re going somewhere. It’s the last day of January and I’m on my third trip of the year. I would say we’re off to a good start. BK and I have also embarked on our annual travel planning. I’m convinced we won’t travel (i.e BK can’t find time to get away from work) unless we pretty much plan it all up front and start getting things in order.
Practice round on Spanish Bay
BK and I started the year strong and rang in 2019 at Pebble Beach. For those of you who are reading and don’t know, we went to Napa and Pebble Beach in October for BK’s 40th birthday. While we were there we learned about a New Year’s tournament at Pebble Beach and decided we should come back for it.
Masquerade ball on NYE
Pebble Beach, Spanish Bay and 17-mile drive in general is incredible- the landscape, the food, the golf- it’s all ridiculous. The trip was great and a little out of character for us, as in the past we have rarely done anything exciting to ring in the new year, but this trip included a few rounds of golf, cocktail receptions and a masquerade party on New Year’s Eve. Such a fun trip- highly recommend. No kids allowed.
They *might* be from the same family
We were home for a couple of weeks, then this past weekend went to Arkansas. It was quite a whirlwind of a trip- flew into Little Rock, one night there; drove to Camden, two houses there; drove to Magnolia, spent the night there; church, lunch, then drove back to Little Rock to fly out. It was a busy trip, but also a really good one. Saw grandparents, aunts and uncles, and lots of cousins. And yes, we flew to Arkansas. The thought of five hours in the car with K and H wears me out. I’ll take that 45-minute flight any day.
We arrived!
At the beginning of this post I mentioned we were on a plane, embarking on trip #3 of the year, and this is a fun one! This morning Cookie, TR and I surprised the kids with a trip to Disney World. It was ridiculously hard to keep this secret from them, but somehow we, and the fam, pulled it off. I’m still not sure they realize where we’re going, but I can’t wait to see when they realize it.

Fun times ahead this year!
